Title: Director of (Mechanical) Engineering - Product development

About the Role
Partnered with a client are seeking a strategic and an orchestrator Director of Engineering to lead the development of innovative, scalable product platforms and will drive engineering strategy, build organizational capability, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products that support long-term business growth.

What You'll Do
- Define and execute the engineering strategy to support product innovation, scalability, and company growth.
- Lead and develop engineering managers and technical leaders, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Drive the development of integrated product platforms while promoting architectural excellence, technical governance, and platform reuse.
- Partner closely with Product Management, Operations, Quality, and Marketing to ensure successful product development from concept through launch.
- Establish engineering processes, KPIs, and best practices that improve quality, productivity, and execution across multiple concurrent programs.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks while ensuring projects remain aligned with business objectives.
- Build strong partnerships with ODMs and strategic suppliers to accelerate innovation and time-to-market.
- Oversee R&D budgeting, resource planning, and workforce allocation to balance near-term priorities with long-term investments.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or another STEM field; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including management of Sr Architect/Engineers and cross-functional teams.
- Proven success leading new product development and bringing complex electro-mechanical products to market - full product lifecycle of product(s), not components/parts of a larger product.
- Experience collaborating with ODMs, manufacturing partners, and strategic suppliers.
- Strong background in engineering operations, strategic planning, budgeting, and resource management.
- Experience implementing Lean product development or similar methodologies.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
